Former FEAR FACTORY Manager SCOTT KOENIG: "DINO CAZARES Tried To Manipulate Me"

May 21, 2002

Former FEAR FACTORY manager Scott Koenig of King Artist Management, who managed the group for nearly half of their 11-and-a-half-year existence, has contacted BLABBERMOUTH.NET to tell his side of the story of the inner workings within the band and the behind-the-scenes decision-making process that ultimately led to his dismissal as the group's representative back in 1999.

"I hate to say it, but [ex-FEAR FACTORY drummer] Raymond [Herrera] paints a very, very true picture of how things were in FEAR FACTORY," began Koenig in his written statement. "[As FEAR FACTORY's third and longest-tenure manager], I managed the band from early 1994 until mid 1999 and it is true that [ex-FEAR FACTORY guitarist] Dino [Cazares] tried to manipulate me and my management team.

"My company motto is 'We Manage The Unmanageable', [a slogan] that was derived from managing Dino Cazares as well as another artist I managed at the time who will remain nameless. [Dino] would constantly lie to me as well as the band, and when something went wrong, he told the band it was my fault.

"My biggest problem, I felt, was alienating the three other guys in the band because Dino insisted that business-wise they were 'useless' and I needed to go through him all the time about everything in order to get things done.

"The band has had five managers over their 10-year career and I ended up managing them for five of those years!

"How retarded is he to blame the management for him being so controlling!?!?!? I am not perfect, but I did work very hard in those five years, and the band had a steady growing fan base and record sales. I was fired 3/4 of the way through the campaign for their biggest record Obsolete?!?

"But this letter is really not about me—it's about Dino and the truth, as I see it, and apparently Raymond, and I am sure Burt and Christian see it as well. Yours Truly, Scott Koenig / King Artist Management"
